TOURING IN THE DELTA
General Information of the State.
The Delta Amacuro State is located at the utmost north-western part of Venezuela, sited between parallels 07°46'13", 10°00'48" of North Latitude and Meridians 59°50'00", 62°35'00" of West Longitude. It limits by the North with the Pariah Golf and the Atlantic Ocean, by the East with the Atlantic Ocean, by the South with the Bolivar State and by the West with the Monagas State, from which it is divided by Caño Manamo and part of the Orinoco River. It has a surface of 40.200 Km2, which represents 4,4% of the national territory.

Its main part is conformed by the Delta del Orinoco plain. By the South, it has mountains belonging to the Imataca Sierra.

Potential touring is basically represented by the natural sightseeing of the State, the Delta system is the most attractive with its singular geomorphologic characteristics, as well as the cultural value of the native population of the zone, as its gastronomy and Indian crafts.

The Delta ecosystem is conformed by a great natural resource park (Mariusa National Park), located right at the center of the Delta Orinoco river, characterized by a forest vegetation and a hydrograph of flooded lands, between Caños Macerao and Mariusa. It has an unique fauna of varied birds and fish’s species on earth. Nature in the Delta Amacuro is the real hook for tourists in this State. It is a very desired destination by Adventure tourism lovers, who undertake demanding expeditions in canoes by the Delta dense forest through the immense aquatic labyrinths conformed by rivers, waterways and channels in more than 70 ramifications born in the Orinoco river and ending at the Pariah Gulf and the Atlantic Ocean.
