The
construction of Camp “My Palafittes”
started on April 15, 1998, and ended on June
25, 1999. Its design and construction was coordinated
by Mr. Alexandros Marmanidis (owner), a businessman
who with great care and tenacity has integrated
the economic progress of the Waraos community
and promotes the development of the Delta zone
tourism.
The
palafittes were built with a technique similar
to that used in the lodgings of the Warao indian
aborigines (wooden basis buried at the river
sides and temiche roofs), using forestry raw
material found in the zone.
One
of the main ideas undertaken in the construction
of “My Palafittes” is to provide
visitors the best possible comfort inside our
facilities. Our site is endowed with all basic
services: water, electricity, sanitary premises,
and proper household goods adequate for lodging,
privacy and rest, offering the best possible
comfort for the enjoyment of our visitors.
Another
idea which was promoted and was very well accepted
is the shelter we have inside the camp facilities
for different fauna species. This valuable action
is carried out to preserve the fauna proper
of the region, thus giving a recreational attraction
to our visitors.
The
valuable contribution of the Warao communities
made possible the construction and continued
development of this beautiful tourism camp.
Their native knowledge, wisdom and permanence
within their territorial area (TROPICAL FOREST),
represent the most important value that causes
Orinoco Delta to be selected as a tourist destination.
This is a magical place where we still keep
millenarian ancestral customs, representing
a social cultural interchange patrimony from
Venezuela to the world.
